Whew!

Ok, I got everything ftped. Yay!

Now all the past posts are available, with the except of four or so posts I couldn’t recover. There is still to be done. I’m working on my theme, plugins, and widgets right now. My blog will be restored to order very soon.

After I complete that, I will write some updates. In my life, six weeks = a ton of stuff happening. I’ll get to updating all that soon too.

I haven’t updated in about six weeks. I was too busy brooding over the loss of all my posts, plugins, themes, etc. It may seem unimportant to some people, but it devastated me. It almost felt like a part of me was maimed. I had put a shitload of into my blog and right before that jackass corrupted it I had become proud of all my hard . Disappointment and rage doesn’t even begin to cover what I felt, but you get the idea.

Anyway, this morning I decided to tackle the feat of recovering as much of my blog as possible. I scoured my hard drive and found a backup file I had forgotten about. I prayed that it wasn’t corrupted and contained much of my hard work. I did some testing and found that it did in fact contain ALL posts prior to February 12, 2008, which means I only lost four or so posts.  I’m ecstatic!

I still think it’s sad and pathetic that some people get off on fucking up other people’s hard work, but there isn’t really anything I can do to change that. However, I would enjoy ripping Starback’s little pecker off and force-feeding it to him, but that isn’t possible, so I will just be thankful that I am able to fix what he did to my blog. I have learned an extremely valuable lesson… I will backup everything (blog, database, etc) after every change and post I make.

I was unable to save most of my themes and plugins, but that doesn’t really matter. They won’t be too difficult to do over. I know there is a lot of hard work ahead getting it restored to its former glory ;-) but I’ll get it done. Now that I’m not so disheartened things will be back to normal (well, as normal as things can be for me) soon. *does a happy dance*

Sorry about the lack of posts. Some pathetic piece of shit who calls himself Starback corrupted my database and fucked everything up.  Bear with me while I clean up his mess.


Moved My Blog

I originally had my blog on AOL (when I was still a newbie), then I moved it to opendiary because I preferred the functionality of the site and it was devoted specifically to blogs/journals. I was very happy with opendiary for quite awhile… happy enough to pay for a subscription.

Since I paid for a subscription I was lulled into a false sense of security – that my entries were safe and I didn’t have to back them up. Boy was I wrong!

There was a hacker attack on that site and everyone’s entries from july-sept 11th were deleted. They couldn’t recover them. It pissed me off, so I moved to livejournal.

The lost entries were so important to me… I’ve been kicking myself in the ass for not backing them up… needless to say I’ve learned a valuable lesson – now I save my entries to my hard drive as well as using other sites. I blog on yahoo 360, myspace, opendiary, livejournal, xanga, and now my own website… I think my posts are pretty secure now. :)

Anyways, losing all those entries discouraged me from for awhile. Here I am though, back in the saddle again. (more…)
