Buckcherry & Crossfade Concert
I went to see Crossfade and Buckcherry last night with Amber and Dudney. I saw both bands a couple months ago at Dischorus ‘06 with Dudney.
I’m not a huge fan of either band. I like Crossfade’s ‘Colors’ and ‘Cold. Buckcherry’s songs ‘All Lit Up’, ‘Crazy Bitch’, and ‘Sorry’ are some of my favorites.
The three of us got high and took a few shots before we went to the show. Amber drove. We got lost on the way to the Cain’s Ballroom (even though we have been to dozens of shows there) because we were high as hell and forgot to exit the highway a few times.
Once we finally got there, the line was about half a mile long. It was freezing outside, so the three of us stayed in the car until the doors opened. We liked the bands, but not enough to freeze our asses off for them. So we smoked another bowl while we were waiting and downed some of the jager I brought with me. I’m well known to carry around a coke bottle full of jager (at bars and concerts, usually).
While we were waiting some dude stood between our car and another truck to piss. I guess he didn’t see us there. So we got a free show… intense cold really does shrink things. ![]()
Eventually, the doors opened so we went to get in line. There were two lines as usual, one for people with tickets and one for people who still needed to get tickets. Apparently, the huge line was for people who still needed to get tickets and since we already had our tickets, we got in pretty quick. We all headed straight for the bathroom.
Amber and Dudney went for the bar, but I thought they were right behind me as I made my way up to the front. I got a really good spot – third row, stage right. I’ve been to enough shows to know exactly how to get my happy ass right up front. When I turned around they weren’t with me, oops. Oh well, I didn’t really care. I figured I’d see them eventually, or I’d meet up with them after the show.
There were quite a few guys right where I was. Several of them were hot, but I tried not to pay attention. I went to the show for music, not to pick up some stranger.
Mercy Fall opened up for Crossfade. I didn’t know who they were, but they gave a kick ass performance. The lead singer had great stage presence and it was apparent that the band loved music. Later, I bought one of their CDs.
I was excited when Crossfade came out. I really like some of their songs. I can completely identify with a lot of their lyrics. The lead singer is hot, but doesn’t have much of a stage presence. I still enjoyed their performance though.
There were a lot of crowd-surfers during Crossfade’s performance. That’s the only thing I hate about concerts… having to watch out so some asshole doesn’t fall on me or kick me in the head. That’s why it’s good to be around a lot of guys, most of them protect females.
There was this really hot dude that was standing next to me and he kept the crowd-surfers far away from my head. I was grateful. He tried talking to me, but I responded as little as possible. I was determined to behave myself.
Lastly, Buckcherry came out. I was still surprised that Crossfade was opening for them. I knew who Crossfade was long before I had heard of Buckcherry. Honestly, I didn’t even know who Buckcherry was until I saw them at Dischorus ‘06. By the time they took the stage, I had made way up to front row – right on the barricade. I was dying of thirst. Luckily, one of the security guards was pouring water in people’s mouths. He got to me and poured longer than I expected so I moved my head and ice cold water soaked my white t-shirt… oops.
The lead singer of Buckcherry looked tweeked out, but he put on a really good performance, as did the rest of his band. They really enjoy putting on shows, that was completely obvious.
I left my digital camera at home because I wasn’t sure if they were allowed inside, but I did bring my old 35mm. I took about three rolls of film. I’ll get them developed, scanned, and posted as soon as I can.
During the show Nick was texting me. He was stuck at work and didn’t get to make it. He was having a shitty night so I told him I’d stop by his job after the concert and smoke a bowl with him.
After the concert ended I went out to Amber’s car to wait on them. When we got back to the apartment, I took my explorer and drove to see Nick. It was a little after midnight and I had to be at work at 5:30am so I didn’t plan on staying long.
He was just promoted to night supervisor a few days before and he wanted to show off. He showed me his office and chewed out a few employees in front of me. He was actually being a dick to some of them. It made him unattractive.
We went back to his office and got high. We talked about stuff that I can’t really remember anymore. He showed me around both shops and all the different machines. I didn’t know production equipment was so sophisticated. No wonder the shithead is making over $20 an hour.
I kept trying to leave, but he wouldn’t stop talking. Finally, at 2am he said he had to start closing down the shop because they got off at 2:30am. He wanted me to hang out in his office and then go hang out with him at his house.
I got out of it by telling him I needed to go home because I had to be at work in three hours. He kept me another half hour and then I finally got to go home.
I tried to sleep but couldn’t. I was wide fucking awake. Finally, I dozed off about 4am and my damn alarm clock went off half an hour later.
I went to work and hoped it would go by fast. When I got off work I planned on coming straight home and going to bed so I got some rest before the party, but that didn’t really work out.
We had to clean the apartment and I had to bake a couple birthday cakes. Then we had to go to the liquor store and lots of other shit. I’m finally done with everything and tired so I’m going to try to get a few hours sleep before everyone gets here.
On this day..
